Current Opportunities

CNC Programmer

HERD, a locally owned and leading manufacturer of Front-end Collision products since 2003, is currently seeking an experienced and self-motivated CNC Programmer to join our expanding team.

As our CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for the day to day programming and nesting of the CNC Laser machine.

 

Duties will include:

  • Creating CNC programs for sheet metal punching or laser cutting (Aluminum and stainless steel);
  • Managing all CNC program files;
  • Monitor and ensure engineering change orders are implemented;
  • Investigate issues as they arise and determine best course of action;
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors/producers of software and equipment;
  • Manage programs to reduce waste and maximize sheet utilization; and
  • Develop and execute ideas to improve management of filler parts.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3 – 5 years’ CNC Laser programming experience;
  • Experience using Solidworks, AutoCAD and Sigmanest is an essential;
  • 3 – 5 years’ production scheduling experience;
  • Experience reading, understanding and comprehending drawings;
  • Previous experience developing patterns for laser cutting;
  • Capable of learning new software related to the fabrication of sheet metal parts;
  • Able to handle large workloads and meet tight deadlines;
  • Strong problem solving skills;
  • Outstanding team player who possess a excellent work ethic, with the ability to adapt; and
  • Up to date with the latest tooling options and industry innovations

Fabricators

REQUIREMENTS:

-All applicants must have good working knowledge of the English language – Verbal & Written

-Own transportation (public transportation is not available)

-Experience with hand tools (angle grinders, angle sanders, angle polishers, etc.)

-Previous experience working as a Grinder / Polisher / Sander would be an asset

-Able to work in hot, dusty and fast-paced shop environment while wearing a fill face respirator

-Basic computer skills/knowledge

We are now seeking an experienced Purchaser to join our team.  Reporting to The Supply Chain Manager, the Purchaser will be responsible for ordering of all essential materials for production in a timely manner; ensuring that all orders are received on schedule and at cost; while focusing on cost reduction initiatives and vendor relationships.

 

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Place orders based on Demand Forecast and other material reports
  • Conduct pricing reviews and negotiate with vendors
  • Review and Maintain vendor material inventory
  • Support MRP system development
  • Explore and Develop new relationships with potential vendors
  • Set up Kanban’s as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous purchasing experience – preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous training related to production and inventory management would be an asset
  • Proven and Effective negotiation skills
  • Strong attention detail, with the ability to analyze and organize large amounts of data
  • Previous experience working in a MRP system
  • Exceptional communication skills – written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing/operational excellence is an asset

We are currently seeking an eager, self-starter; who sees opportunities in obstacles, and views failures as learning objectives.  With our engineering team playing a key role in our organization, we require an individual who can embrace challenges, prioritize daily tasks to meet company strategic goals and set standards in their work.

 

Duties will include:

  • Developing new products that leverage Herd’s state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. ;
  • Working hands-on with manufacturing personnel to creating innovative manufacturing tooling
  • Creating easy-to-follow drawings; documenting vehicles for new product applications
  • Programming CNC equipment
  • Providing high-quality technical support to Customer Service and Operations; and
  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Eligible for certification with APEGM or CTTAM
  • Exceptional Analyzing and Problem Solving Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work on self-directed engineering projects
  • Exceptional communication skills – written and verbal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in a similar role or a background in metal fabrication would be an asset
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing/operational excellence is an asset
  • 3D Modeling Experience (Experience with Solidworks would be an asset)

Aluminum MIG Welder – Night Shift

Aluminum MIG Welder – Night Shift

 

HERD, the leader in front-end collision protection products, is seeking a welder to join our night shift team, who has previous experience with Aluminum MIG Welding.  The ideal candidate will be able to keep up with our fast-paced production environment and schedule, while continuing to maintain our company’s quality standards.

 

The Ideal candidate will possess the following Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ previous experience in Aluminum MIG welding
  • Able to read/use a metric tape measure
  • Experience with fitting
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Able to work alone in welding bay
  • Able to perform work while standing for extended periods of time
  • Experience using bandsaws would be an asset
  • Own a welding helmet and
  • Successfully complete a Welding test ( tests only given to those selected for interviews )
